Stuttgart

I got back in Munich from Paris around 9:30 pm. The next day I just relaxed and unpacked and hung out. It was surprisingly tiring doing all that travelling, mostly because I walked good knows how many miles everyday. The next day I took the train over to Stuttgart, which is only 2 hours away from Munich. Stuttgart is the world headquarters of Mercedes-Benz and Porsche, so I planned on visiting those and their museums.

Getting from the central station in Stuttgart to the museums was a bit interesting because parts of the S-Bahn were shut down, which meant that it only stopped at a few stops, and of course Mercedes was one of the stops that was closed. But eventually I got there.

The Mercedes-Benz complex

I don't really have a lot to say about this trip. You just look at the cars. So I am just going to post pictures of cars that I like and thought were cool.

The world's first Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes-Banz 300 SL Coupe with the famed gull wing doors. Probably my favorite Mercedes

the 300 SL's interior

Lewis Hamilton's F1 car that he won his first World Championship in

The steering will of the F1 car. My favorite button is in the upper right: "Drink." You press it and you get fed drink through a tube in your helmet

Mercedes Pope Mobile

A Mercedes-Benz 770 Grand Mercedes open tourer. This car is famous as being the favorite car of the National Socialist leaders. Hitler, Göring, and Heydrich all had one. Not a good look

Those were the cool ones for Mercedes. Then I moved on over to Porsche, whose train station was open so it was much easier to get there. Here are some Porsches that I liked

My favorite car in the Porsche museum. A Porsche 911 Carrera RS 2.7 Coupe

Second favorite car. Actually maybe 1st. It's a tie

This is not an upside down photo. This car is on the ceiling, because at around 200mph it could theoretically generate enough down force (up force?) to drive on the ceiling

Explained here

Look who it is! Sally from cars

How they made her

They are kind enough to let you sit in this 911. Unsupervised

The Carrera GT. An amazing car

Love the interior of the Carrera GT

One of the greatest cars in the world. Porsche 918 Spyder. Set the fastest time ever for a lap around the Nürburgring by a production street legal car with a 6:57 time. The Nürburgring is 12.8 miles, so it averaged about 110 mph. Oh and its a hybrid

918 Spyder

I love how the exhaust comes out the top of the car

This is a Porsche 911 Turbo S "918 Spyder Edition" which you are only allowed to buy if you have bought the 918 Spyder, which starts at $850k or something like that

The explanation of the car

So yea that's pretty much it. Hope you enjoyed looking at some cars. Next stop, Vienna!

  1. Those are wonderful cars! It's good to see that there are places that hold exhibits like that. It certainly gives people good information about history of cars, and an idea of their car for that matter. Thank you for sharing that Jake! All the best to you!
